Home - Stories of Success - Local Power Couple Open Signarama to Build Family Business

Every business and organization need signs in order to grow. As the saying goes, “A business with no sign is a sign of no business.” Candy Ross decided to open a Signarama franchise in order to chart her own course and “help others reach their goals and pursue their dreams.”

What is Signarama?

Signarama is the world’s largest and top rated sign franchise and full-service sign franchise business. They provide a full range of comprehensive sign and graphic services to both private and commercial sectors. Every business and organization needs signs, which is one of the reasons why Candy decided this would be a great career move.

Pursuing the Entrepreneurial Route

After a twelve year career with Kohl’s Corp, Candy decided to enter the sign business industry. According to Candy, she left her role of being responsible for 15 stores and 19 employees because not only did she want to pursue her own business, but she could also feel the impact of the community by hiring and training others to work there and make a nice career. Candy will be able to utilize her leadership skills while as the same time building a business that she can pass down to her family.

Her recently retired husband, Scott Ross, worked in law enforcement for 26 years. He too, wanted “to continue providing a service to the community and provide jobs to others.”

Together, they chose Signarama for their family venture because of brand recognition and global franchise growth. In fact, Signarama has been around for 30 years with nearly 900 stores in 62 countries worldwide. Not only does Signarama make up for 80 percent of the sign franchise business market, but it was also ranked number one in their category in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500 in 2015.

Leader in the Commercial Sign Business

A goal that this couple has is to be the leader in commercial sign franchise business in Wake Country. “We want to provide the best service and products in the industry. Your sign is a reflection of what might be happening inside your business, if it looks old and grimy that may be the impression others get. It’s a first impression tool, so we think it’s very important to have it clean as a whistle, modern and the starring main accessory in your first impression.”

The kind of signs that Signarama can produce for a company depends on the budget and the industry, but they can make signs for everything from industrial facilities and warehouses to retail spaces, making buying an easier, more pleasant experience.

According to Ross, the sign business weathers economic downturns. No matter the climate, businesses need signs for sales and various advertisements in order to gain more business.
